Peak Builds Special Machine to Assemble Front Knuckles
Front knuckle assemblies manufactured by a major Tier One automotive supplier are built on a special machine supplied by Peak Industries, Inc., Dearborn, Mich.,

Each assembly consists of three rancor components the cast Iron knuckle, a dust cover, and a hub. The machine is manually loaded and unloaded.

The assembly sequence starts with the operator loading, in turn, four bolts into their sockets, the knuckle1 and the flat dust cover. Sensors indicate correct part installation and orientation. Next, the operator loads and fastens three rivets using a manual rivet gun. He then loads the hub and activates a clamp that holds the hub in position while four bolts are tightened by a slide-mounted nut runner When the pre-set torque is reached, the slide retracts automatically, the operator initiates the clarrip to open, and the completed assembly is unloaded.

Peak industries has been a supplier of custom automation, assembly tooling, special assembly. machines and systems for the automotive and other manufacturing industries since 1966.
