Pin Press Machines

pin press machines Short on bells and whistles, but long on performance and versatility. Two single-station machines provide the muscle and accuracy required to insert a 1 1/2" long pin that joins the two halves of this steering column. Precise alignment of the steering components facilitates pin insertion and helps ensure ultimate integrity of the complete steering column assembly. These machines were designed by Peak on a 3D Auto Cad system, using Catia data supplied by the customer.

Each of the manually loaded and unloaded units includes six hydraulically actuated cylinders for various machine motions. The main hydraulic ram that drives the pin home applies approximately 3000 lb. of force. An Allen Bradley programmable logic controller controls all machine motions and is tied into the plant's master computer to monitor machine performance and operating conditions. Dual Palm Buttons are provided for operator safety.
